Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated research specialist to join our team. Research in the Driver group is directed at using genetically edited pig models to study the development and maintenance of pulmonary immunity. In this regard, we are especially focused on uncovering how specialized types of lung immune cells called unconventional T cells contribute to immunity against influenza viruses and other pathogens that are important for swine and human health. Our group is dynamic and interactive, and most projects require close teamwork among lab members, which promotes excellent opportunities for acquiring new skills.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include planning and participating in animal studies, updating animal care and use and institutional biosafety committee protocols, performing and analyzing laboratory experiments, ordering laboratory supplies, and coordinating undergraduate researcher activities. There is also opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their own research projects.

Shift

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; with flexibility for weekend/evening hours as required for experiment needs

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

It is preferred for the candidate to have BS degree in animal sciences, biology, or a related field. Experience working with animals is desirable but not essential. The candidate is also expected to be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as verbal and written communication in English.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $17.40 - $22.00 per hour
