Position Summary

The Research Nurse Specialist performs a variety of technical and administrative duties concerning specific clinical research studies.


Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

Provide high-quality clinical care to patients enrolled in research studies while following professional and ethical standards; help develop patient and staff learning materials when needed.
Take part in ongoing training, guide nursing teams on study medication procedures, support policy updates, and stay current with advances in treatment and venous access techniques.
Conduct scheduled patient follow-ups, evaluate physical and emotional responses to study treatments, and take suitable action when adverse reactions occur.
Determine whether potential participants meet study criteria by reviewing medical records, collecting relevant history, documenting initial laboratory findings, and coordinating required diagnostic scans.
Explain consent requirements to participants, prepare patients and clinical staff for protocol-related testing, support physicians with IRB submissions, and maintain communication with research sponsors and review boards.
Ensure study procedures are followed as outlined in the research protocol, oversee investigational medications, conduct or supervise pharmacokinetic assessments, and manage the collection, processing, storage, and shipment of research specimens. 

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
 

Experience

Approximately 2 years of related work experience in a clinical setting.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong verbal, written communications, and interpersonal skills.
 

Licenses and Certifications

Current NY State Registered Nurse License & Registration.
BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
Infection Control Certificate
