Research Lab IT Software Deployment & Support Specialist
Tulsa Area, OK | Onsite | 6+ Month Contract
iSphere is looking for a Research Lab IT Software Deployment & Support Specialist who is comfortable working in that space where IT, lab systems, scientific software, and refinery operations all meet.
This role supports the software and systems behind critical refinery laboratory operations. You will work with laboratory personnel, IT teams, vendors, and application support groups to deploy and maintain specialized lab applications, troubleshoot instrument connectivity, support integrations, and make sure systems can be recovered quickly when something goes wrong.
This is not a basic desktop support role. The environment includes chromatography software, laboratory applications, instrument communications, LIMS-related integrations, and the documentation needed to support all of it consistently.
You will install and configure laboratory software on workstations and servers, manage versions and updates, validate dependencies, support licensing and patching, and help maintain repeatable deployment standards. You will also troubleshoot software, hardware, and communication issues between instruments and supporting systems.
A big part of the role is making sure the environment is supportable. That means creating clear deployment guides, documenting configurations and dependencies, building recovery procedures, and helping other IT and lab support personnel understand what needs to happen when a system is replaced, upgraded, or fails.
What we need:
Experience supporting specialized laboratory, scientific, or industrial software applications
Strong Windows support experience, including LTSC environments
Experience with software deployment, system administration, and troubleshooting
Experience supporting instrument-to-computer communications and software integrations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to create clear technical documentation, deployment procedures, and recovery instructions
Strong communication skills with the ability to work comfortably with laboratory personnel, IT teams, vendors, and application support groups
Experience with platforms such as Agilent OpenLab CDS, ChemStation, EZChrom, Dionex Chromeleon, AP LimsBridge, ServiceNow, PowerShell, or similar refinery laboratory applications will definitely get our attention.
Refinery, manufacturing, laboratory, or other industrial experience is a big plus, as is experience with LIMS, chromatography systems, software validation, change management, backup and recovery, or disaster recovery procedures.
The person who does well here will understand that keeping a lab application running is not just about whether the software launches. The instrument has to communicate, the data has to move where it belongs, the configuration has to be documented, and somebody needs to know how to put the whole thing back together when a workstation dies at the worst possible time.
If you have supported scientific or laboratory systems and like being the person who can bridge the gap between the lab and IT, this should be worth a conversation.
