The Research Director for the CDI will be appointed as Associate or Full Professor in Inclusive Special Education and will join a School of Education that aspires to be the pre-eminent institution for scholarship and instruction across three signature areas: inclusive and antiracist pedagogy and practice; digital learning and instructional technologies; and experiential learning. We seek to expand our global reputation for attracting and preparing transformative leaders, teachers, counselors, social workers, and other professionals who support meaningful student participation, equitable outcomes, and a culture of belonging across diverse learning contexts and communities. The School of Education and, specifically, the CDI have an international reputation as leaders in inclusive education and disability related work. We are looking for the appointment to begin August 2026.

Preference will be given to candidates with: 1) Background in disability studies in education, inclusive education, critical special education, inclusive education policy, inclusive post-secondary education, and/or technology innovation focused on disability; 2) Experience seeking federal and foundation research and/or large technical assistance grants; 3) Administrative, project management, and collaborative experience leading and supervising teams of faculty, staff, and graduate students; 4) Background in quantitative methods and analysis, CritQuant, big data, or GIS mapping; 5) Experience in working with diverse communities and inclusively meeting diverse student needs; and, 6) Commitments to inclusive education for all people from asset and equity based perspectives.
Responsibilities
We are seeking someone who will: a) become a Syracuse-located Research Director (not remote); b) collaborate with and follow the direction of the Center leadership; c) support ongoing research efforts and oversee the research direction and grants of the CDI; d) lead grant writing; e) work with CDI affiliated grad and undergrad students providing research mentorship as well as advisement; f) collaborate with other faculty; g) be involved in an array of activities in the CDI; h) teach undergraduate or graduate courses in inclusive special education or research methodologies; i) interface with other university resources and units.
