Prototype Technician

Pay: $17/hr starting, $22+/hr with experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Fabrication & Welding TechnicianJoin Our Team
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fabrication & Welding Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing precision components while collaborating with engineering and production teams to deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform precision MIG welding, metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly according to engineering drawings and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, AutoCAD drawings, and fabrication layouts.
  • Design and optimize fabrication layouts, fixtures, and jigs using AutoCAD.
  • Set up, program, and monitor welding and laser cutting operations, including MetaCAM programming and machine operation.
  • Assemble fabricated components, ensuring proper fit, function, and quality.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, tape measures, height gauges, and Cordax measuring equipment to verify critical tolerances.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and verify material availability to support production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate production records, material usage, and project documentation using Microsoft Excel.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on fabrication equipment, welding fixtures, and shop tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and resolve fabrication issues.
  • Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative manufacturing team.
Qualifications
  • Experience with MIG welding, metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication layouts.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience designing fabrication layouts, fixtures, and jigs is preferred.
  • Experience with laser cutting equipment and MetaCAM programming is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional inspection techniques and precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for production tracking and documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
