We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Fabrication & Welding Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing precision components while collaborating with engineering and production teams to deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform precision MIG welding, metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly according to engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, AutoCAD drawings, and fabrication layouts.
- Design and optimize fabrication layouts, fixtures, and jigs using AutoCAD.
- Set up, program, and monitor welding and laser cutting operations, including MetaCAM programming and machine operation.
- Assemble fabricated components, ensuring proper fit, function, and quality.
- Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, tape measures, height gauges, and Cordax measuring equipment to verify critical tolerances.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and verify material availability to support production schedules.
- Maintain accurate production records, material usage, and project documentation using Microsoft Excel.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on fabrication equipment, welding fixtures, and shop tools.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing processes and resolve fabrication issues.
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative manufacturing team.
Qualifications
- Experience with MIG welding, metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication layouts.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience designing fabrication layouts, fixtures, and jigs is preferred.
- Experience with laser cutting equipment and MetaCAM programming is an asset.
- Strong understanding of dimensional inspection techniques and precision measuring instruments.
- Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for production tracking and documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic equipment maintenance.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
