Research Center Health Equity Lead Community Health Associate (Hybrid)

Job Description

This is a fixed-term role for a one-year period, anticipated to continue through December 2027.

The Lead Community Health Associate (LCHA) conducts direct outreach with designated communities in an effort to provide education and build professional bonds, relationships, and sustainable advisory boards and partnerships. Under the direction of management, the LCHA is responsible for bringing together important

information, resources and evidence-based awareness and screening programs to identified communities. In addition, the LCHA is responsible for data collection when necessary and will represent the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in community settings. The LCHA also collaborates with colleagues and experts to conduct trainings in

the community. This position will provide feedback to the director(s), principal investigators, clinicians and researchers, and administrators on community priorities, needs and barriers on a regular basis to help catalyze the development of research projects and needed community programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and manages relationships with key community organizations, stakeholders , including developing and managing a partnership data-base and documenting key interactions.
• Oversees education programs at the neighborhood-level, in particular managing program within catchment area areas identified as prioritized by leadership, increasing reach and numbers of community members and partners based on targets established.
• Develops, manages and evaluates partnerships within the designated geographic areas and develops innovative approaches to scale up efforts to reach all parts of the catchment area.
• Oversees the community outreach/partnership process for community grants program and manages progress for specific grants throughout the year.
• Supporting collaborative community-based research studies with investigators and providing regular input.
• Conducts presentations as related to education for the community, including train the trainer and support media events within institution guidelines.
• Supervises, volunteers/community health workers and other designated staff.
• Conducts evaluations of specific projects and collecting appropriate data.
• Social media content development and supporting dissemination of public health information.
• Digital assets/digital library development and management.
• Develops and tests education materials and messages. This includes design, production, and dissemination of collateral marketing materials (letters, brochures, and flyers) and tool kits per institutional guidelines by obtaining approvals.
• Works with Director to develop promotional plans for the community.
• Implements strategic initiatives within the community as designated by leadership

Cancer Institute - Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Establishes relationships with Federally Qualified Health Centers to increase cancer screening and support recruitment for cancer clinical trials.
• Partners with the Director to establish and maintain a formal Latino/Latinx Community Advisory Board (CAB) or support a general CAB.
• Supports collaborative, community-based research studies with investigators and provides ongoing input.
• Participates in research faculty meetings, providing input on the development of grant proposals and pilot research projects.

Qualifications

This is an exciting opportunity to work with diverse communities, with a focus on community-based educational workshop facilitation, partnership development, and patient navigation.

• Fixed-Term: 1 year
• Schedule: This position offers a hybrid work arrangement with an onsite requirement of once per week, with the remaining schedule worked remotely based on departmental needs.

REQUIRED

• High School Diploma/GED
• Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Community Health, Social Science, or a related field
• 3 years of experience in a community health setting
• 5 years of experience with established relationships in community outreach with Latinx and African American populations
• Established relationships with local community clinics, school districts, and community health/public health organizations
• Experience organizing large-scale community events
• Bilingual Spanish-speaking

PREFERRED

• Master's Degree in Public Health or Community Health.
