Manufacturing Company in Carlsbad, CA is looking for a Research Associate II to join their team. The right candidate will be responsible for the below:

The position executes a range of analytical and bioanalytical procedures and laboratory duties under supervision and independently. Performs laboratory duties while maintaining associated required guidelines. Also is responsible for maintaining inventory of laboratory reagents and supplies.

Position Requirements:
  • Responsible for the day to day running of experiments and data analysis in the various laboratories as it pertains to cartridge components analysis including but not limited to PCBs, screen-printed substrates and injection-molded components
  • Researching scientific and technical literature
  • Responsible for carrying out work to Company standards, including documentation and accurate record keeping and maintaining related work schedules in order to support product development timelines.
  •  Prepare reagents and solutions as directed, using appropriate procedural and documentation methods, including industry standard good laboratory practices and perform additional duties as required.
  •  Examine physical properties of components that are used in making consumables.
  • Perform experiments and data analysis under supervision and independently.
  • Analyzes and compiles experimental data and reports and records results in laboratory notebooks
  • Present work at meetings as required, and proposes new strategies and methods to address immediate and upcoming technical issues
  •  Responsible for maintaining stockroom supplies and inventory.
  •  Implement the company’s health and safety policies and procedures in the functional area.
  • Interact with other internal departments, as necessary, to plan and expedite project objectives.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
  •  BSc degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related fields. MSc is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with Analytical Chemistry instruments is required. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Chemistry, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry laboratory experience in an R&D setting post-BSc degree Skills – Technical.
  •  In-depth understanding of Chemistry concepts is required. First-hand experience with sample handling, buffer and reagent solutions preparation in low concentrations, Analytical Chemistry methods, pH measurement, spectroscopic methods, instruments calibrations and other techniques used in Chemistry labs
  • Experience with molecular biology methods and techniques such as PCR, PAGE/agarose electrophoresis valuable but not required
  • Experience with electroanalytical methods such as CV, EIS and SWV is advantageous
  •  Experience with statistical analysis methods.
  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to present data and results.
  • Excellent skills with software such as Google and Microsoft Word processing, Spreadsheets and Presentation tools.
  • Experience with JMP and MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous.
  • Experience with project management methods is a bonus. Skills – General.
  •  Must be a hands-on, self-directed, organized and conscientious individual.
  • Must be able to think and work both tactically and strategically to protect financial and operational interests and performing R&D tasks.
  •  Strong time management and organizational skills in a dynamic and constantly changing environment
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to read, write and analyze complex documents
  •  Ability to work effectively, exhibit a professional manner and establish constructive working relationships

  • None WORK ENVIRONMENT The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments. The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, blood borne pathogens and automated equipment. While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
