    Job Summary

    The Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research Center in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full-time Research Area Specialist Associate to support the research programs of Drs. Sarah Reeves and Erin Carlton. This position will contribute to projects focused on improving the health of individuals living with sickle cell disease and improving long-term outcomes after pediatric critical illness.

    The Research Area Specialist will provide essential support across multiple research activities, including literature reviews, manuscript and grant preparation, survey administration, data management, and project coordination. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive, with the ability to anticipate project needs, manage multiple priorities, and help move research projects efficiently from development through dissemination.

    Responsibilities*

    Conduct literature reviews, evidence syntheses, and environmental scans to support research projects, manuscripts, and grant applications

    Assist with editing, formatting, submission, and tracking of manuscripts, reports, abstracts, presentations, and grant applications

    Coordinate research activities, regulatory documentation, project tracking, and communication with collaborators

    Provide administrative and project support, including managing deadlines, gathering required documentation, and other duties as assigned by Principal Investigators

    Support survey development, programming, testing, deployment, and management using REDCap, Qualtrics, or similar platforms

    Assist with data collection, data management, quality assurance activities, and basic data analyses

    Required Qualifications*

    Bachelor's degree in biological, social, public health, medical, or related sciences and relevant research experience

    Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, proactively follow up on tasks, and drive projects through to completion

    Strong organizational, project management, and record-keeping skills

    Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

    Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines

    Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

    Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive research and participant information

    Basic knowledge of medical terminology

    Proficiency in conducting literature reviews using PubMed and other scientific databases

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and reference management software such as EndNote

    Ability to collaborate effectively with investigators, clinicians, and research staff in a multidisciplinary environment

    Desired Qualifications*

    Master?s degree in public health or equivalent work experience

    Prior research or internship experience in health, health care, health policy, or health services research

    Experience conducting literature reviews and evidence synthesis in health-related fields

    Experience preparing, formatting, and submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals

    Practical experience or knowledge of EPIC / MiChart system

    Experience supporting grant proposal development and submission

    Experience with REDCap and/or Qualtrics

    Experience with SAS, Stata, R, or other statistical software

    Understanding of HIPAA regulations and requirements regarding protected health information (PHI)

    Experience using AI-enabled tools to support research workflows, literature review, data analysis, or scientific writing

    Modes of Work

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
