Description

Overview:

Reports directly to the Departmental Manager/Supervisor and is responsible for completing patient admission and registration processes, as well as other financial functions related to admissions.

Serves as a liaison between patients, nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to facilitate timely and accurate resolution of patient-related financial and administrative matters. Responds to walk-in patients and incoming telephone inquiries from customers seeking assistance with patient accounting, billing, and collection concerns.

Must possess a strong understanding of admission, billing, and collection processes and demonstrate the ability to independently research and resolve issues without requiring assistance from other staff members. Provides exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, confidentiality, and a patient-centered approach in all interactions.

Qualifications:

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) certification preferred.
  • Education or coursework related to healthcare, medical insurance, or a related field preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance requirements preferred.
  • Excellent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively organize workflow.
  • Ability to perform cashiering and payment-processing functions accurately.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective when handling stressful or difficult situations.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and the Windows operating environment.
  • Minimum typing speed of 25 words per minute preferred

Required Experience:

  • Three to five years of customer service experience preferred, with experience in a healthcare environment strongly preferred.
