About the Role: We're looking for an experienced Collector Substation Engineer to join our team and work on exciting renewable energy projects. This fully remote role offers flexibility and the chance to make a real impact in the growing renewables sector.
What You'll Do:
  • Design and lead collector substation projects, especially in renewable energy (like wind and solar).
  • Analyze and calculate substation performance to ensure everything runs safely and efficiently.
  • Work closely with project teams to develop plans, layouts, and cost estimates.
  • Choose equipment, design layouts, and review technical specs.
  • Make sure all designs meet industry standards and safety rules.
  • Support construction, testing, and commissioning efforts.
  • Occasionally visit project sites to guide and check progress.
  • Keep up with the latest in renewable energy and substation tech.
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (required); Master's is a plus.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in substation engineering, with at least 1 year on the generation side.
  • Background in engineering consulting (firms like Burns & McDonnell, Client, TRC, etc.) rather than utilities.
  • Solid understanding of renewable energy systems and how they connect to substations.
  • Skilled in engineering tools and software.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Able to work independently in a remote role and juggle multiple projects.
