Remote Senior Ab Initio Platform Architect — AWS Modernization

We are seeking a Senior Ab Initio Platform Architect / Engineer to support a large-scale modernization initiative for a major enterprise organization.

This is a highly technical role focused on the migration of an existing Ab Initio enterprise data platform into AWS, while establishing the architectural and operational foundation for a future modernization to Databricks.

The ideal candidate is more than an Ab Initio developer. You are an experienced platform engineer and architect who understands the infrastructure behind enterprise ETL environments - including AWS, Linux/Unix, storage, networking, security, scheduling, access management, and platform administration.

Required Qualifications:

• Significant professional experience with Ab Initio migrations/modernizations.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience migrating legacy platforms or applications into AWS.
• Experience with large-scale lift-and-shift migrations.
• Experience transitioning legacy data platforms toward modern cloud data architectures.
• Experience with AWS EC2 and cloud infrastructure concepts.
• Strong understanding of AWS storage, networking, security, firewall, and access-management concepts.
• Strong Linux/Unix administration experience; Red Hat experience preferred.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale ETL/data environments.
• Ability to work across infrastructure, application, data, and security teams.
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Databricks.
• Experience with Redshift.
• Experience modernizing legacy ETL/data platforms.
• Experience working with enterprise data warehouses or data-generation platforms.
• Experience supporting complex, highly interconnected production environments.

Responsibilities:

AWS & Platform Modernization

• Support the lift-and-shift migration of a large-scale legacy Ab Initio environment into AWS.
• Assess infrastructure, application, and platform dependencies to develop a practical migration strategy.
• Work with cloud and infrastructure teams to address compute, storage, networking, security, firewall, and access requirements.
• Identify technical risks and dependencies before they impact the migration.

Ab Initio Platform Administration

• Configure and manage Ab Initio platforms and sandbox environments.
• Support scheduling, access, operational processes, and platform stability.
• Troubleshoot platform and infrastructure issues.

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Provide senior technical and architectural guidance throughout the modernization.
• Bring lessons learned from previous enterprise cloud migrations and modernization programs.
• Identify opportunities to make AWS implementation decisions that support future migration to Databricks.
• Challenge technical assumptions when appropriate and provide practical alternatives
