    How does this role impact First Command?

    The Manager, Military Spouse Programs supports execution of First Command's Military Spouse Strategy by translating strategic priorities into coordinated, enterprise-wide programs and initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Military Spouse Programs, this role partners across Corporate and Field organizations to implement and scale initiatives that enhance the military spouse employment and career experience.

    This position drives program delivery, stakeholder coordination, and cross-functional execution while supporting continuous improvement and alignment with enterprise objectives. The ideal candidate brings strong program management capability and practical understanding of military spouse employment challenges, with the ability to translate strategy into action.

    What will the employee be doing?

    • Supports execution of the enterprise Military Spouse Strategy, translating strategic priorities into coordinated programs and initiatives across Corporate and Field.
    • Partners with internal stakeholders to implement military spouse employment initiatives that support recruiting, retention, and career advancement outcomes.
    • Leads cross-functional coordination across key workstreams, ensuring alignment, consistency, and timely execution of enterprise initiatives.
    • Partners in execution and refinement of service-specific and segment-specific engagement approaches in collaboration with Military Affairs and Marketing partners.
    • Cultivates and manages day-to-day relationships with external partners and organizations supporting military spouse employment and professional development.
    • Tracks program performance and key metrics, supporting reporting, insights, and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Oversees coordination and execution of the military spouse sponsorship portfolio, including activation planning, coordination, and evaluation.
    • Contributes to development of briefing materials, presentations, and communications for senior leadership and external engagement.
    • Participates in Military Spouse Advisory Council (MSAC) coordination, including logistics, agenda development, stakeholder communication, and action tracking.
    • May lead discrete projects, working groups, or initiatives, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver defined outcomes.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    • Individual contributor role requiring strong cross-functional leadership, influence, and stakeholder management across teams and external partners.
    • May informally lead projects, working groups, or initiatives across the enterprise.

    What skills and qualifications does this employee need?

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in business, social sciences, or a related field required

    Work Experience

    • 6-10 years of progressive professional experience (corporate, nonprofit, military-affiliated organizations, or related fields), or equivalent lived experience as a military spouse.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting programs, partnerships, or initiatives related to workforce development, advocacy, or community engagement.
    • Understanding of military life, including PCS cycles, deployments, and employment challenges unique to military spouses.
    • Experience collaborating across teams and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
    • Experience in military spouse advocacy, HR, talent strategy, or program management preferred.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and capacity to execute within a larger strategic framework.
    • Ability to influence without direct authority and contribute to cross-functional outcomes.
    • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
    • Effective presentation and storytelling capabilities.
    • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and support implementation of innovative solutions.
    • Willingness to travel approximately 25-35% to support relationship-building, events, and program execution.
    • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment with distributed teams.
