About the Service
No Wrong Door provides support to North Yorkshire's most vulnerable young people. Our young people have complex needs and have experienced early childhood trauma.
The Paddock is a residential care home for up children who live semi-independently with staff support
You will support our established team in delivering support and interventions to young people aged between 13 and 25. We have the highest aspirations for all the young people we care for and our aim is to provide the scaffold for them to achieve the best possible outcomes in life.
About the role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day care of young people within our residential homes. The approach we adopt is to create a family environment where our young people feel valued and respected. An example of this would be to support and develop our young people's positive experiences through education, activities and life skills. We want our children to feel included in the decisions made with them, and to be involved in every aspect of their care.
You may also contribute to our Edge of Care Service, providing outreach support to young people in our local community. You will work with a solution focussed approach, in a fast-paced environment whilst always keeping the child at the centre of all decision making.
Working with our young people can be challenging at times, and will require you to be compassionate, resilient, empathetic and non-judgemental. This role is extremely rewarding as you will find yourself influencing young people to make positive life choices and supporting them through the difficulties of adolescence. You will need to be flexible in your approach, as this role is shift work as part of a 24/7 rota.
You must have the ability to meet the travel needs of this post: Please be aware that this may involve significant travel implications and will involve transporting children and families across the county.
It is an exciting time in Children and Young Peoples Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementations for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.
