This role is expected to be in the office 4 days a week. Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) for the Advisor Client Onboarding and Maintenance ART and is a servant leader accountable for improving the flow of value across the ART while ensuring alignment with Schwab's business strategy, priorities, and delivery commitments. In this role, you will facilitate program‑level planning and execution, coordinate across multiple agile teams and partners, remove impediments, manage risks and dependencies, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, trust, and transparency. You will serve as a critical connector between agile teams, Product Management, Architecture, and Portfolio leadership. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a servant leader who empowers teams to take ownership of delivery outcomes.

  • Prepare the ART for PI Planning by partnering with Business, Product, and Technology leaders to align priorities with enterprise strategy.

  • Facilitate program level ceremonies, including:

  • PI Planning (preparation and execution)

  • ART Sync / Scrum of Scrums

  • System and ART Demos

  • Inspect & Adapt workshops

  • Promote realistic planning, transparency, and alignment on PI Objectives and commitments.

  • Monitor progress against PI commitments; ensure visibility of scope, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs.

  • Identify, track, and help resolve impediments, issues, and risks; escalate when needed to protect delivery flow.

  • Foster cross team collaboration and coordination across Product Managers, Scrum Masters, Architects, and Engineering teams.

  • Coach teams and leaders on Scaled Agile (SAFe) practices, agile principles, and continuous improvement.

  • Support new ARTs by establishing a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Analyze and communicate program level metrics to improve predictability and value delivery.

  • Drive continuous improvement by assessing ART health and facilitating improvement actions.

  • Support tool adoption and consistent ways of working across the ART.

  • Encourage lean‑agile budgeting and economic decision-making at the program level.

  • Model inclusive, collaborative leadership and promote constructive conflict resolution.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have:

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of Release Train Engineer experience
  • 8+ years of experience as a Project Manager and/or Scrum Master supporting large, complex, cross‑functional technology initiatives.
  • Experience delivering complex technology solutions and managing a concurrent portfolio of work (e.g., ~$5M+).
  • Applied experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and agile delivery practices.
  • Strong servant‑leader mindset with a focus on collaboration, transparency, and outcomes.
  • Ability to facilitate large‑scale planning sessions and program‑level events.
  • Experience managing risks, dependencies, and cross‑team coordination.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Ability to partner effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to establish clear communication channels and improve information flow.
  • Experience using metrics and insights to improve flow, predictability, and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAFe / Release Train Engineer certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Rally strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience refining processes and workflows in evolving environments.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Experience influencing best practices and leading organization‑wide change.
  • Demonstrated success coaching peers and leaders to strengthen agile maturity.
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas, present recommendations, and inspire action.
  • Experience setting performance‑driven goals and driving continuous improvement across groups.
