    A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RELEASE OF INFORMATION SPECIALIST

    Work closely with patients and help them complete the Release of Information Authorization Form. You will evaluate various types of requests and incoming correspondence to make sure forms are filled out correctly and following Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines. You will be responsible for processing non-billable Protected Health Information (PHI) requests to outside medical providers, facilities, or patients. Answer incoming phone calls and resolve or transfer to appropriate person. You will have one on one meetings with your supervisor and have monthly team huddles, where you will learn what is happening around the organization. One of the most important responsibilities in this role will be to abide by the HIPAA state and federal regulations. Don't worry, our training process is excellent, and you will be up to speed in no time.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR A RELEASE OF INFORMATION SPECIALIST

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • 2 years' medical office experience and/or experience working in a Health Information Department

    • Medical Terminology

    • Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)

    • Ability to multi-task

    • Customer Service Skills

    • High level attention to detail and accuracy

    WORK SCHEDULE

    This position is on site and requires working Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm with a 30-minute lunch break. There may be times when asked to work a flexible schedule to cover for vacations and illness.
