    Reinsurance Accounting Specialist

    About the Opportunity

    Our client is a well-established insurance organization is seeking a Reinsurance Accounting Specialist to join its finance team. This position will play a key role in supporting reinsurance accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and audit activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance accounting principles, reinsurance transactions, and financial reporting requirements within a complex and fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and record reinsurance-related accounting transactions, including premiums, losses, commissions, and settlements.
    • Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis to ensure accurate reporting.
    • Assist with the preparation of GAAP, Statutory, and management reporting packages.
    • Support regulatory filings, disclosures, and reinsurance reporting requirements.
    • Coordinate with external auditors, reinsurers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to provide financial information and resolve accounting matters.
    • Research and analyze complex accounting issues and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and reporting efficiencies.
    • Assist with special projects and other finance initiatives as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of accounting experience, with significant exposure to reinsurance accounting preferred.
    • Experience with premium and loss accounting, cash settlements, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
    • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles.
    • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, Power Query, and complex formulas.
    • CPA and/or MBA is a plus.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
