The Central Registration Representative is responsible for obtaining information to register services. There are three types of registration: face to face, over the phone and clinical. Quickness, accuracy and effective communication are needed to gather information to be assimilated into the hospital system.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-registers patients for hospital and specialty areas with accuracy.
- Registers patients for hospital and specialty areas with accuracy.
- Processes the transfer of patients from other hospitals and facilities.
- Performs insurance authorizations for patient registrations as necessary.
- Processes patients with appropriate diagnosis as required by specific insurance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Medical terminology required.
- Previous physician office or medical facility experience including insurance background required.
- Medical terminology required.
- Computer experience, good data entry skills needed.
- Must have good communication and telephone skills, ability to deal with the general public in a professional and courteous manner and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
