The Animal Care Division within the Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to support professional medical staff across San Bernardino County's animal shelter facilities. The RVT will perform routine and para-professional duties related to the care and treatment of animals, including administering medications, maintaining medical records, preparing animals for surgery, and providing training to shelter staff on animal first aid, disease recognition, and prevention. Additional responsibilities include performing humane euthanasia when required, recommending appropriate care and treatment procedures, maintaining facility cleanliness, managing medical treatment and supply records, and completing other duties as assigned by the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
This position may also include assignments in mobile clinic operations, providing vaccines and spay/neuter services to both the public and shelter animals. RVTs may be placed at any of the County's shelter locations or mobile clinic sites based on operational needs.
The RVT will be part of a growing veterinary services team dedicated to supporting the animals and community members of San Bernardino County. The Department of Public Health has recently procured its first mobile veterinary clinic and is actively constructing a new, state-of-the-art County Animal Care Center that will feature a full veterinary hospital.
