Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Job Responsibilities
- Assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, nebulizer treatments, and other respiratory therapies
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory support equipment
- Perform arterial blood gas collections and other respiratory diagnostic procedures
- Respond to emergency situations, including airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to develop individualized treatment plans
- Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, treatments, and home care needs
- Maintain accurate patient documentation within the electronic medical record
- Follow hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards
Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements
- Completion of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program Required
- Ohio Medical Board Respiratory Care License Required
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certification Required
- BLS Certification Required (may be obtained during orientation)
- ACLS Certification Required (may be obtained during orientation)
- NRP Certification Required (may be obtained during orientation)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification Required (may be obtained within the first year of employment)
Preferred Experience
- One to three years of Respiratory Therapy experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
- Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience providing respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients is preferred
- Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments and workflows
