This position will be in our Free Standing Emergency Room located in Deerfield Beach

A Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) helps patients with breathing problems, from premature babies to the elderly, by diagnosing, treating, and managing lung conditions like asthma, COPD, or cystic fibrosis, using diagnostic tests, oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and airway clearance techniques, working with doctors to create treatment plans and educate patients on managing their respiratory health.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Performs Emergency room therapies and oxygen administration following proper policy and procedure.

  • Performs or assists with endotracheal intubation as indicated in a safe manner

  • Performs endotracheal extubation as indicated in a safe manner.

  • Maintains clinical competency for mechanical ventilation in adult, pediatric and newborns.

  • Able to perform arterial blood gas draws and analyze in a safe and effective manner from radial, brachial and femoral arteries as well as capillary samples.

  • Able to insert IV lines, and draw lab work

  • Able to monitor cardiac rhythms and perform 12 lead EKG

Education/Certification Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program required.

  • Work experience in all aspects of respiratory care preferred.

  • Willing to train for IV insertion and monitor tech shared role

Competency in blood gas analysis, Spirometry.

  • Registration by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.

Licensure

  • Current State of Florida License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the Department of Health.

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification from American Heart Association is required.
