What Youll Do
- Provide nursing care to Medical-Surgical and Telemetry patients in an acute-care setting.
- Monitor patients with conditions including sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID-19, and pneumonia.
- Care for post-operative overflow patients, including orthopedic and gastrointestinal surgical cases.
- Manage wounds, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheters, fistulas, PCA therapy, and pain management.
- Perform assessments, administer medications, and monitor patient responses to treatment.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation services, and other members of the care team.
- Document patient care in the Meditech Expanse electronic medical record.
What You Need
Required:- Current Registered Nurse license.
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- At least 2 years of acute-care RN experience.
- Ability to successfully complete an EKG competency exam before arrival.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and Medical-Surgical nursing.
- Flexibility to float to other Medical-Surgical areas within the hospital as needed.
Preferred:- Previous travel nursing experience.
- Experience caring for post-operative patients and managing complex drains, lines, and wound care needs.
About the Assignment
This opportunity is with a leading facility in Bossier City, Louisiana, supporting a growing Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with 18 beds. The unit offers a collaborative care environment with access to in-house respiratory therapy, hospitalists, rehabilitation services, phlebotomy, and IV support. The schedule includes weekend rotation every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage.
