QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and current registration with the Louisiana State Board of Nurses Examiners, preparation in Operating Room Techniques and procedures.

Registered Nurse- Surgery Department- Full-Time RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS:

1. Preparation of surgery for days scheduled.
   1. Assist as needed.
   2. Wiping down.
   3. Putting out supplies for each case.
2. Transporting patient to surgery.
   1. Assist as needed.
3. Assists Anesthetist with application of Blood Pressure Cuff and started infusions.
4. Assist in patient positioning properly and safely.
5. Prepares operative area when patient is ready.
6. Assists Scrub Nurse as necessary and assists Surgeon with gown.
7. Counts sponges with Scrub Nurse and keeps written records.
8. Assists in keeping room clean and floor picked up.
9. Assists in cleaning and wrapping supplies when necessary.
10. Keeps sterile water hot as needed.
11. Assist in preparation for next case.
12. Checks Recovery Room and prepares stretcher for patient as needed.
13. Count sponges with Scrub Nurse at proper time.
14. See that the pathology specimen is properly prepared and labeled for appropriate laboratory tests.
15. Give In-service as requested.
16. Required to take night and weekend call on a rotating basis.
17. Assist in other areas when not needed in OR.

QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and         current registration with the Louisiana State Board of Nurses Examiners,         preparation in Operating Room Techniques and procedures.SPECIAL DEMANDS: The Circulating Nurse will work a fluctuating work        week and will be available for a rotating on-call schedule. Time off call must        be arranged with the Operating Room Supervisor.WORK CONDITIONS: Must be able to lift over 25 lbs, e.g. moving, lifting,        or helping to lift patients of diverse weights.  Subject to cuts and burns when         handling instruments and operating autoclave.  Prolonged walking and         standing.  Oral communication.  Visual and hearing acuity.  Be of even         temperament, not given to excitability.  Have good physical health and be         able to work well under tension.  Exposed to infection occasionally.        May supervise OR personnel other than Supervisor when needed; otherwise,         none.OSHA EXPOSURE CATEGORY A - EMPLOYEES IN THIS POSITIONHAVE EXPOSURE TO BLOOD-BORNE PATHOGENS.MISSION STATEMENT:As an integral part of our community, Franklin Medical Center’s mission is to provide the highest quality health care and customer satisfaction to all those we serve.
