About Company:

The Caswood Group is hiring Registered Nurses to work with youths at a youth correctional facility in Monroe County. The registered nurses will be covering evening and weekend shifts ONLY, working with other staff in a nursing and supervisory role.

About the Role:

The Registered Nurse plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the delivery of comprehensive nursing care within a youth detention facility. This position ensures that all healthcare services meet regulatory standards and are tailored to the unique needs of detained youth, promoting their physical and mental well-being. The supervisor coordinates nursing staff activities, manages clinical operations, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans. They are responsible for maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment while addressing the challenges associated with providing healthcare in a secure setting. Ultimately, this role aims to enhance health outcomes and support the rehabilitation process of detained youth through effective nursing leadership and clinical expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current, unencumbered and valid NY Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably including experience in correctional, pediatric, or adolescent healthcare settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing principles, healthcare regulations, and youth detention facility protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher.
  • Experience working specifically within juvenile justice or youth detention healthcare systems.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Training in mental health nursing, trauma-informed care, or substance abuse counseling.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in correctional healthcare.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care tailored to the physical and mental health needs of detained youth.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, facility policies, and professional nursing standards.
  • Collaborate with medical providers, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to develop and monitor individualized treatment plans.
  • Manage medical emergencies and provide guidance on infection control, medication administration, and health education.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for nursing personnel to promote professional development.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance healthcare services within the detention facility.
