GENERAL SUMMARY 

The Registered Nurse Supervisor will assist in providing professional nursing services for consumers, assist with laboratory, EKGs and other medical treatments, supervise and make assignments to RN, LVN and unlicensed staff, and complete associated documentation for the consumer and program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Provide professional goal-directed nursing care to individuals by assisting with or performing nursing assessments regarding the health status of the client, completing nursing diagnosis, developing a plan of care, evaluating consumer's responses to nursing interventions.
  •  Assist with laboratory collection, EKGs, and other medical treatments/interventions appropriately, taking initial health history on new patients, using database to augment plan of care, and assess nursing needs to provide safe and efficient nursing care.
  •  Provide comprehensive nursing care for acutely and/or critically ill patients whose conditions warrant expert and complicated treatment.
  •  Make nursing care assignments to RN, LVN, C.N.A. and unlicensed observation staff of various skill levels, instructing and supervising staff as needed and will precept new nurses.
  •  Participate in multi-disciplinary quality assurance program to evaluate and ensure staff proficiency, quality of patient care, error reporting, environmental safety, and comprehensive documentation.
  •  Aid in the Utilization Management function as needed by collecting, reviewing, and authorizing Medicaid and non-Medicaid covered emergency Mental Health hospitalization for consumers throughout the Center's system.
  •  Maintain pharmaceutical oversight of medication samples for specified units participating in the program through assigned unit level staff, maintaining accurate account of stock medications, controlled substances, and consumer medications
  •  Coordinate medication refills, prior authorization and patient assistance process, including sample medication distribution with the Center's pharmacy contract, and coordinating services with pharmacy representatives and/or companies.
  •  Is depended upon by prescribers/providers to make clinical decisions and consult with staff physicians
  •  Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating staff education, and provides supervision of clinical learning
  •  Conforms to the Texas Nurse II Practice Act and the Board's rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State, and local laws, rules, or regulations affecting the RN's current area of nursing practice. 
  •  Ensure adequate staffing or act in lieu of absent staff and coordinate filling vacancies with the Director of Nursing.
  •  Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business.
  •  May be needed to transport a consumer in company vehicle.
  •  Performs other related duties as required.

SUPERVISION

  •  Work requires managing and monitoring work performance by directing multiple groups of employees across more than one business function, including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed. (Includes RNs, LVNS, etc.)

MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS 

Education and Experience

  •  ADN/Diploma RN, (BSN preferred) or higher in Nursing
  •  Six (6) years nursing experience, with at least 2 years in psychiatric, mental retardation or substance abuse settings 
  •  Minimum five (5) years nursing or clinical supervisory experience

Licenses or Certifications

  •  Current Registered Nurse Certification to practice in the State of Texas

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  •  Bilingual (English/Spanish)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  •  Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  •  Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.

 Salary Range: $65,723.00 – $98,585.00 Per Year
