Support the Next Generation of Practical Nurses at Pima Medical Institute! We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to serve as a Substitute Clinical Instructor (PRN) for our Practical Nursing (LPN) program at our Aurora campus.
This PRN role is ideal for an active RN who enjoys teaching and mentoring, but prefers a flexible, as-needed schedule. Clinical Learning Coordination: Arrange appropriate clinical learning opportunities tailored to individual student growth needs.
Performance Evaluation: Evaluate student clinical performance, technical competencies, and progress using established clinical standards.
Practice Currency: Stay current in clinical practice and remain informed of evolving standards in the nursing profession.
Instructional Support & Program Quality:
Program Alignment: Assist in implementing and evaluating the Practical Nursing program's mission, objectives, and clinical standards.
Faculty Collaboration: Partner with ANIP and Clinical Faculty to maintain consistent instructional quality and curriculum delivery.
Policy Adherence: Strictly follow and enforce all institutional and clinical facility policies and procedures.
Academic Management & Support:
Retention & Progress: Monitor weekly student progress and coordinate Academic Success Plans with the Clinical Director as needed.
Attendance & Documentation: Maintain precise student attendance logs and ensure compliance with all record-keeping policies.
Student Advisory: Address concerns between students and institutional staff, providing ongoing guidance on clinical techniques and professional conduct.
Professional Engagement: Attend scheduled faculty meetings and maintain a high standard of professionalism with students, staff, and clinical site partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) OR current enrollment in a BSN degree program from a nationally accredited nursing education program.
Licensure: Active, unencumbered Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license (or Compact/Multi-State privilege to practice in Colorado).
Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse.
Teaching Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing teaching, clinical instruction, or preceptor experience.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and computer applications.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Why This Role Works
Schedule Flexibility: PRN/as-needed schedule ideal for nurses balancing full-time or part-time clinical shifts with teaching.
Competitive Compensation: Earn $40.00 - $46.89 per hour.
Impact & Mentorship: Mentor and inspire future LPNs without a full-time academic commitment.
Supportive Environment: Work alongside a collaborative academic and clinical leadership team.
Employee-Owner ESOP Perks: Participate in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), 401(k) eligibility, and Colorado Paid Sick Leave.

Pima Medical Institute 2026
Pima Medical Institute started changing lives in 1972 when Richard Luebke Sr. and his wife, JoAnn, brought to life their dream of providing quality medical career education. They opened the first campus in Tucson, Arizona, preparing students to become nursing assistants. Eventually Richard Luebke Jr. and Mark Luebke took the helm, introducing more programs and opening additional campus locations to meet the country’s growing demand for quality healthcare professionals.
In 2015, Fred Freedman became Pima Medical’s President and Chief Executive Officer after serving the college as Chief Operating Officer. He has been with Pima Medical since June of 2000. He’s leading Pima Medical into the future, with growth, innovation and a keen eye on what healthcare providers need in great employees. We encourage you to become part of the Pima Medical Institute family, where you can help make a difference in the lives of our students today and educate future professionals.
As our community of students continues to grow, so does our community of talented staff. We truly believe that our people are the heart of our organization, and as we grow, we continue to hold ourselves accountable to the values that support those people.
