What Youll Do
- Provide nursing care for patients experiencing respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, diabetes, and complex neurological or surgical conditions.
- Care for patients following craniotomies, spinal surgery, traumatic brain injury treatment, total joint procedures, urological procedures, and other general surgeries.
- Manage ventilators and assist with intubation and extubation procedures.
- Provide stroke-focused care and support neurological assessments.
- Manage central venous lines, Foley catheters, and enteral feedings through NGT or PEG tubes.
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, hospitalists, rehabilitation services, and other members of the care team.
- Float to stepdown, stroke, or medical-surgical units as needed.
What You Need
Required- Registered Nurse licensure required; specific state licensure details were not provided.
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Two years of acute-care RN experience.
- Stroke-care experience.
- Ventilator management experience.
- Ability to complete and pass an EKG competency exam before arrival.
- Experience with central venous line management, intubation/extubation support, Foley catheter management, and tube feedings.
Preferred- Prior travel nursing experience.
- Experience in SICU/ICU, stepdown, stroke, or medical-surgical settings.
- Familiarity with Meditech Expanse, Alaris IV pumps, or Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
About the Assignment
This assignment is with a leading facility in Bossier City, Louisiana, supporting a 10-bed critical-care environment with a broad range of complex medical, neurological, respiratory, and surgical patients. The team includes respiratory therapy, hospitalist, rehabilitation, resource nursing, and vascular access support. Weekend rotation and holiday coverage are part of the schedule, with no on-call requirement.
