Role Overview
A healthcare organization in Northern New Mexico is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role is responsible for delivering high-quality post-operative nursing care, monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in the PACU using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from surgical procedures and anesthesia.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and communicate updates to the care team.
- Support the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with nursing standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Follow established protocols for patient safety and recovery.
Schedule- Full-Time Days
- Rotating weekends
- On-call responsibilities required
- Holiday coverage as needed
- Scheduling flexibility may be required based on department needs
Required Qualifications- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year of PACU experience
Preferred Qualifications- Prior post-anesthesia or surgical recovery experience
- PALS certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
