    Departmental Description

    Outpatient Surgery has identified its scope of care to include pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia care; specifically to 1) prepare the patient for surgery/procedure by assessing and evaluating his/her physical status via nursing assessment, 2) by providing pre-operative or pre-procedure teaching/education, 3) to assist the patient in returning to a safe physiological level after local, or local with sedation anesthesia, regional anesthesia, or completion of Phase I (PACU) care following general anesthesia, and 4) to prepare the patient for discharge home.

    Responsibilities

    Must maintain a current CPR certification from American Heart Association

    Provides professional nursing care to patients and provides supervision and guidance to the members of the nursing staff.

    Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.

    Qualifications

    • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
    • Valid Texas RN License/Eligible Compact License
    • Strong Med Surge Background (minimum of 2 years)
    • BSN required or must obtain with 3 years.
    • CAPA preferred.
