Registered Nurse - NICU
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in Level III NICU specialty
- Level III NICU experience is required
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:2 - 1:3 (staffed by acuity)
- Travel experience is required
- Certifications: BLS/BCLS, NRP (Advanced preferred), PALS
- Compact nursing license must be in hand at submission
- Proficiency with Epic EMR system
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care for neonates and infants with various conditions including, but not limited to, prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal abstinence syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, jaundice, and necrotizing enterocolitis.
- Conduct and assist with procedures such as intubations, central line/PICC care, umbilical artery and vein catheterization, and lumbar punctures.
- Administer treatments including surfactant therapy, phototherapy, and therapeutic hypothermia.
- Monitor and manage ventilator settings and airway management, ensuring optimal respiratory support.
- Support lactation and feeding processes, including placement and management of feeding tubes.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care delivery to neonates.
Compliance / Notes
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Must work 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Average weekend expectation of every other weekend; may exceed to meet unit needs
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks (guaranteed hours limit)
- Pre-approved time off: one must be included at submission
- Floating to Mother/Baby or sister facilities may occur; confirm expectations prior to submission
