    Location: Show Low, Arizona
    Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift or Night Shift| Three 12-Hour Shifts per Week
    Pay Range: $31.00–$47.00 per hour

    Job Overview

    A healthcare organization in Show Low, Arizona, is seeking experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical (MS2).

    The RN will provide comprehensive care on a 24-bed Medical-Surgical unit with telemetry capability in every room. The unit primarily serves adult patients with a broad range of acute medical conditions and requires nurses with particularly strong neurological and cardiac assessment skills.

    This position is ideal for an experienced acute-care RN who is comfortable managing a varied patient population, interpreting telemetry, responding to changing clinical conditions, and collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary care team.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide direct nursing care to Medical-Surgical and telemetry patients
    • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing reassessments
    • Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing plans of care
    • Monitor patients for neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and other clinical changes
    • Interpret telemetry and collaborate with monitor technicians regarding rhythm changes
    • Perform focused neurological assessments and identify signs of acute deterioration
    • Provide care to patients with cardiac and neurological conditions
    • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders
    • Start and manage IV access as needed, as there is no dedicated IV team
    • Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
    • Collaborate with hospitalists, Charge Nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacy, PCTs, HUCs, and other interdisciplinary team members
    • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
    • Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and nursing practice standards
    • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient needs and clinical competency
    • Float to other Medical-Surgical units as needed
    • May float to ICU to care for Medical-Surgical overflow patients
    • Perform other nursing duties within scope of practice as assigned

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Current Registered Nurse license or eligibility for Arizona licensure
    • Minimum of two years of acute-care Medical-Surgical nursing experience
    • Strong neurological assessment skills
    • Strong cardiac and telemetry skills
    • Current Basic Life Support certification
    • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
    • Current NIH Stroke Scale certification
    • Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and decision-making abilities
    • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
    • Willingness to float to other Medical-Surgical units and care for Med-Surg overflow patients in ICU when needed

    Preferred

    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
    • Previous telemetry experience
    • Experience caring for neurological or stroke patients
    • Experience caring for cardiac patients
    • Previous experience with Sunrise Allscripts
    • Experience caring for both adult and pediatric populations

    Pediatric assignments are based on appropriate training, competency, and certification.

    Department Information

    • 24 Medical-Surgical beds
    • Telemetry capability in all patient rooms
    • Adult and pediatric patient population
    • Typical RN ratio of approximately 1:5, adjusted based on patient acuity
    • Pediatric assignments may be approximately 1:4
    • Telemetry technicians available
    • Charge Nurse support
    • Patient Care Technicians and Health Unit Coordinators
    • Hospitalist available in-house 24/7
    • Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
    • Pharmacy available 24/7
    • No dedicated IV team
    • Sunrise Allscripts electronic medical record

    Schedule

    • Three 12-hour shifts per week
    • Approximately 36 hours per week
    • Floating may occur to other Medical-Surgical units
    • ICU floating is limited to caring for appropriate Medical-Surgical overflow patients

    Dress Code

    • Scrubs may be any color except all black
    • Scrubs are not provided
