Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical ICU

As a Registered Nurse in our Medical ICU, we care for patients with many different diagnoses including: Covid, multi system organ failure, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, influenza, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, pre/post bone marrow transplant, pre organ transplant (kidney/liver/lung), overdoses, and respiratory/cardiac arrest. Our care portfolio includes community hospitals, academic hospitals, primary and specialty care clinics, senior facilities, facilitated living centers, rehabilitation centers, home health care services, counseling, pharmacies and benefit management services.

Responsibilities/Job Description:

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU - Medicine Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.

 

As a Registered Nurse in our Medical ICU, we care for patients with many different diagnoses including: Covid, multi system organ failure, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, influenza, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, pre/post bone marrow transplant, pre organ transplant (kidney/liver/lung), overdoses, and respiratory/cardiac arrest. Therapies we utilize include hypothermia, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), paralytics, and proning.

 

Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift and will also work a rotation for every 3rd weekend.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for: 

• Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;
• Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;
• Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;
• Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;
• Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;
• Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;
• Demonstrating the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes;
• Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and
• Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.

Required Qualifications:

• MN RN Licensure
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers
• Experience: 1 year of ICU experience or 18 months recent medical/surgical experience in a hospital setting

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.
• Certification in related specialty is highly desired.
• A minimum of one year current medical surgical RN experience in a Hospital setting is preferred.
• One year adult critical care experience is preferred.
• Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty is highly preferred.

Qualifications:

$42.96- $72.75 Hourly
