Greenville County Department of Public Safety is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for temporary positions with our healthcare team at the Greenville County Detention Center. These positions do not include benefits. In this position, you will play a key role in providing healthcare to inmate patients. If you are a skilled nurse with maturity, flexibility, critical thinking skills, and confidence in your nursing judgment, this may be the position for you! Our nurses provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional setting while observing and maintaining operational security requirements. As part of a well-established agency, you can expect a variety of challenges that put your nursing skills to work. Responsibilities may include the following, as appropriate to your license and scope of practice: assisting physicians and advanced practice providers with sick call, including screening patients and assisting with minor procedures; administering prescribed medications as ordered and maintaining medication security; making patient observation rounds and documenting findings; monitoring patients" symptoms, responses to treatment, and progress, and reporting concerns to the appropriate provider or supervisor. Providing care for patients with acute, chronic, and mental health conditions; responding to medical emergencies; maintaining compliance with facility policies and procedures; documenting patient encounters and coordinating Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling. Graduate of an accredited registered nursing or practical nursing program, as applicable; current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in South Carolina. Current Basic Life Support certification; current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (RN only). Ability to provide nursing care, respond to medical emergencies, and assist with crisis intervention within the scope of your license. Ability to exercise sound nursing judgment, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with healthcare and security staff. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver"s License.
