    Overview:

    Sentara Norfolk General Hospital located in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the General Intensive Care Unit - GICU.

    Hours/Shift: 36 (hours per week)/Days 7a-7p or Nights 7p-7a
     

    Overview:

    The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

    We are seeking compassionate, highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our Beacon Award-winning, 16-bed General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. This dynamic unit provides advanced critical care for a diverse and complex patient population, including myocardial infarctions, life-threatening dysrhythmias, post-cardiac procedures, gastrointestinal bleeds, high-risk respiratory distress requiring mechanical ventilation, vascular surgeries, general surgeries with complications, and high-risk obstetric complications.

    As a member of our team, you will have the unique opportunity to play a vital role in the hospital's Medical Response Team (MRT) and Code Blue Team, providing expert critical care support throughout Norfolk General Hospital. Our nurses work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, utilize leading-edge technology, and develop advanced assessment and clinical decision-making skills in a fast-paced, highly respected critical care environment.

    Education

    • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

    • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

    Certification/Licensure

    • Registered nursing License (Required)

    • BLS and ACLS required within 90 days of hire

    Experience

    • Minimum of 1 year emergency, intermediate care, intensive care or med/surg nursing

    We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
