The Opportunity

This job posting is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Observation Unit (COU)

Position Overview

The RN provides care for patients before and after cardiac procedures performed in the Cath Lab. Responsibilities include patient assessment, preparation, recovery, monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and assisting physicians during procedures.

Schedule

  • 3 × 12-hour shifts

  • Day shift start times vary:

    • 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM

    • 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

    • 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM

Call Requirements

  • Rotating weekend call

  • Approximately every 4–6 weeks

  • Saturday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Sunday: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Required Qualifications

  • Active Arizona RN license or Compact RN license

  • BLS certification

  • ACLS certification

Experience Considered

Candidates with experience in the following areas may be considered:

  • PACU

  • ICU

  • Telemetry

  • Cath Lab

  • Surgery Center

Primary Responsibilities

  • Admit patients

  • Complete pre-procedure assessments and documentation

  • Start IVs and prepare access sites

  • Prepare patients for:

    • Cardiac catheterization

    • Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE)

    • Cardioversions (CV)

  • Recover patients after conscious sedation

  • Administer moderate sedation (per facility policy)

  • Circulate and document bedside procedures (TEE and CV)

  • Monitor patients for complications

  • Discharge patients with education and documentation

Ideal Candidate

A strong candidate will have:

  • Experience caring for high-acuity cardiac patients

  • Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills

  • Comfort with conscious/moderate sedation recovery

  • Strong IV insertion skills

  • Experience with telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced procedural environment
