The primary purpose of the registered nurse is to manage the direct patient care for all radiation oncology patients. Assumes primary responsibility and accountability for the delivery of all patient care, including care provided by those directly under his/her direction such as the LPN and Medical Assistant. The registered nurse will utilize nursing skills to evaluate, treat, and report to the physician and other healthcare professionals any physical, and/or psychosocial problems and special needs of the cancer patient. Educate patients, families and staff on patient care issues.
