Registered Nurse Summary
The registered nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient centered care, under the direction of the department manager, supervisor, and charge nurse. Proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process, assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Licensed Practical Nurse Summary
Under the direction of the department manager and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides nursing care for assigned patients. Performs care, treatments, and procedures within scope of practice and established guidelines and provides a safe and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse
Required:
- Current State of Nevada licensure as Registered Nurse or Interim Permit.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Within six (6) months of hire, completes the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training Course
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Certification:
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Registered Nurse (PMHN)
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC)
- Certified Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (CMS-RN)
- Experience in a Behavioral Health facility
Licensed Practical Nurse
Required:
- Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada.
- Current BLS/CPR for healthcare providers.
- Basic computer skills for:
- Accessing and navigating CTRH intranet for forms, policies, and procedures.
- Accessing and entering data on organization wide software such as timekeeping system and hospital email.
- Accessing and using internet and specific applications required to perform job duties.
Preferred:
- Three (3) years of LPN experience in an acute care hospital.
Registered Nurse Essential Functions
- Has knowledge of and adheres to Carson Tahoe Health's policies, procedures, and unit standards of care.
- Attends 75% of scheduled staff meetings/unit conferences. Attends/completes 100% of all required Unit and Hospital education and Employee Health annual requirements by the established deadlines.
- Maintains required license and certification requirements on provided platform.
- Maintains competencies to reflect current skill level.
- Self identifies and seeks guidance when encountering nursing procedures and
- Responsibilities that have not been mastered. Seeks out and communicates need for additional learning experiences.
- Appropriately identifies changes in patients' presentation and communicates changes to the care team.
- Adheres to performing/receiving bedside handover as per organizational standards.
- Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of non-professional personnel.
- Identifies patient teaching needs and provides elementary instructions for the patient and his or her family.
- Develops, reviews, modifies, and implements comprehensive plan of care.
- Responds appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Licensed Practical Nurse Essential Functions
- Obtains information for assigned patients during bedside report, or hand off communication to/from another department.
- Implements patient care instructions per physician orders.
- Consults with and keeps Registered Nurse informed of activities, symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient's condition with regard to assigned patients.
- Administers medication within scope of practice and established policies. Maintain the MAR (Medication Administration Record). Observes and documents patient reactions to medications to determine efficacy/side effects.
- Provides prescribed education to patient and family members related to health, treatments and medications.
- Participates in data collection related to patient status and needs. Documents all aspects of patient care.
- Provides appropriate pain management techniques and instructs the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Performs patient hygiene duties as needed.
- Completes and documents a patient assessment each shift.
- Performs nursing procedures and patient care per policy and procedure.
- Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring of patients.
- Assists with maintenance of unit safety.
- Assists with training/orienting new staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
