    Description

    REGISTERED NURSE  OPERATING ROOM                           

    Union: NYSNA                         FULL TIME

    3:00PM-11:30pm 

    MONDAY TO FRIDAY

    Rotating weekends and holidays & ON CALL hours

     STARTING BASE SALARY  $116,922 PLUS Education and Experience Differential when appropriate           

    Job Description:

    • Clinical Care: Assess patients pre-operatively (e.g., NPO status), monitor vital signs intraoperatively, and provide immediate post-operative evaluation and recovery room monitoring.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate, real-time records of the surgical procedure, medications administered, and any anomalies in patient condition within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). 
    • Patient Advocacy & Safety: Participate in "Time Out" processes to ensure correct surgical site/procedure, advocate for patient needs under anesthesia, and ensure all informed consents are verified.
    • Circulating Duties: Manage overall nursing care in the OR, monitor the sterile field, maintain tool counts before and after surgery, and act as a communication liaison between the surgical team and other hospital departments.
    • Scrub Duties: Sterilize the operating room, gather and arrange necessary supplies, assist the surgical team with gowning and gloving, and pass instruments to the surgeon during the procedure.

     

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Current licensed as a Professional Registered Nurse in New York State
    • Critical Care experience required
    • BCLS/ACLS required
    • Bachelors preferred     
    • Basic Arrhythmia course preferred     

       

    Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an OR or acute care setting.

     

    Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods (often 8–12 hours) and the stamina to move heavy equipment or assist in patient positioning.
