    Job Description:

    Overview of Unit/DepartmentThe Nurse Manager position for the Orthopedic and Transitional Care Units at Meyer Orthopedic and Surgical Hospital offers a unique leadership opportunity spanning both acute and long-term care in a smaller, specialized hospital environment.The Orthopedic Care Unit is an acute care unit serving patients before and after surgical procedures. The nursing team supports patients through recovery, education, and preparation for a safe discharge home or transition to their next level of care. The unit works collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience.The Transitional Care Unit (TCU) provides long-term care in a smaller, relationship-focused environment. This unit offers the opportunity to support both quality resident care and the regulatory and compliance standards unique to the long-term care setting.Leading both units provides a unique opportunity for a Nurse Manager who enjoys variety and wants to develop expertise across different areas of nursing practice. Located separately from the main hospital, Meyer Orthopedic and Surgical Hospital offers a smaller, close-knit environment while remaining connected to the resources and support of the larger health system.The Nurse Manager provides leadership for daily operations, team development, quality and patient safety, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. We are looking for a visible, collaborative leader who enjoys developing others, building a strong team culture, and supporting excellent care across the continuum.Job SummaryUtilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients; identify a plan of care; and implement and evaluate the care given. Coordinates and directs care given by other team members. Addresses system issues to facilitate the provision of quality efficient care. The incumbent provides oversight and management of operational, regulatory, and business processes across the department. The position leads the department in facilitating change, fostering innovation and self-development to achieve excellence in operations, patient safety and quality. Excellent communication skills, leadership ability, time management, and problem solving skills required.

    Education

    Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

    Experience

    Required: At least one year of management experience

    Preferred: One year experience in area of specialization

    • Represents the department on several process improvement, standardization, and regulatory committees
    • Operates strategic plan by setting and monitoring department Key performance measures and goals
    • Determines department scope of care or service in relation to values, mission, and strategic plan of the institution

    Licensure/Certification/Registration

    Required: Nursing License active in the state of Missouri

    Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
