Registered Nurse — Night Shift
Minnehaha County Jail, Sioux Falls, SD, Full Time
SCHEDULE & PAY
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week
Hours: 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
Pay: $41.00 - $45.00 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE
If nights are your preference, this role was built for you. Correctional Medical Management is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for the night shift at the Minnehaha County Jail. You will care for incarcerated patients — a population with complex, often untreated health histories — in a structured, team-oriented environment where your clinical skills are used every single shift.
Night shift nurses here earn shift differential pay plus critical needs pay, giving you meaningfully higher take-home than a comparable day role. And because you work just three 12-hour shifts a week with a consistent schedule, you can actually plan your life around your job instead of the other way around.
IS THIS YOU?
Nights are your natural rhythm and you want a schedule that reflects that.
You want a consistent shift — no flipping between days and nights.
You work well independently and trust your judgment without constant supervision.
You care about patients who have limited access to quality healthcare.
You are a clear communicator who stays composed in emergencies.
You hold yourself accountable and take pride in the care you deliver.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated patients
Administer medications and obtain diagnostic tests
Perform assessments and deliver health education
Respond to medical emergencies
Manage acute and chronic health conditions, adjusting care plans as needed
Evaluate patient behaviors, symptoms, and responses to medications and treatments
Assist with medical or minor surgical procedures
Prepare and maintain accurate records, charts, and reports
Build and sustain professional relationships with patients, staff, and the public
WHY SWITCH TO CORRECTIONAL NURSING?
Some nurses are ready for something different — a role where the schedule is consistent, the team is stable, and the work is genuinely meaningful.
Correctional nursing offers full clinical engagement with a population that has real, complex healthcare needs and limited access to care. You'll use your skills every shift, make independent decisions, and see the impact of your work firsthand.
If you're looking for purpose, autonomy, and a schedule you can actually plan around, this is worth a closer look.
