    Job Summary and Qualifications

    Provides and manages nursing care to patients in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary health team. As medically indicated provides age appropriate, cluster care to premature infants in a minimal stimulation environment. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates all assigned patient care based on the developmental, physical, and psycho-social needs of each patient. Is accountable for patient care given by him/her and by those under his/her supervision. Is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing practice. Is responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing care. Performs all services as they may relate to patient care/treatment with consideration for the age/condition of the patient. Performs additional tasks/activities as assigned.

    What you will do in this role:

    • Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist(s).
    • Demonstrates age specific knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment and care of patients.
    • Ensures the privacy of our patient and confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI).
    • Meets mutually agreed upon performance goals/objectives as listed on the Performance Management Plan.
    • Utilizes the nursing process for individual care to meet the needs of patients.
    • Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and procedures.
    • Documents all patient care.
    • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
    • Promotes customer service initiatives.
    • Promotes and exhibits teamwork.
    • Completes mandatory education.
    • Comply with hospital policies/procedures and patient safety initiatives.

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
    • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
    • (RN) Registered Nurse
    • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
    • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last two years preferred
    • STABLE program completion preferred

    Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas has been serving the Rio Grande Valley for more than 30 years. Our full service hospital has 320+ beds and a team of more than 500 physicians representing 35+ specialties. Rio Grande Regional Hospital offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services. Our Emergency Room is a Level III Trauma Center and we have extended our ER services into the Rio Grande Valley with our three remote ERs in McAllen/Mission, Edinburg, and San Juan. Our Women’s Services include L&D and a 30+ bed NICU. We also have an entire children’s hospital within our main facility to care for the children in our community. We work with the Texas Transplant Institute, which serves local patients in need of organ, tissue or stem cell transplants.
