  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 5 months (hard stop)
  • Pay Rate: $61.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: 12-Hour Nights; 18:45 07:15 (3 12 Hours); 36 hours per week only

Job Summary

This is a travel contract NICU nursing position in Charlotte, NC, supporting a high-acuity Level 3/4 Intensive Care Nursery through the holiday season. The unit accepts first-time travelers as well as local candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for premature infants (as low as 22 weeks gestational age) and all types of surgical infants, including those with hypoxic injury.
  • Perform and support special procedures including Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide therapy, UAC/UVC line management, PCL management, Broviac care, tracheostomy care, GTT placement, and ostomy care.
  • Operate and monitor unit-specific equipment: Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, and Giraffe warmers.
  • Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR, and 4P.
  • Maintain patient care ratios of 1:2 4.
  • Float as required to Peds/PICU/nursery caring for infants up to and including 12 months of age.
  • Fulfill weekend requirements: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period.
  • Participate in self-scheduling per unit needs.
  • Complete 24 hours of unit orientation.
  • Wear Navy blue or white scrubs per unit policy.

Required Skills

  • Ventilator (Vents) experience
  • BLS certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Level 3 or Level 4 Intensive Care Nursery (ICN/NICU)
  • Ability to work 36-hour weeks (12-hour night shifts)
  • Ability to meet weekend and float requirements as described

Education Requirements

  • Active RN License required
  • BLS certification required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Level 3 or Level 4 ICN/NICU is required

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Night shift schedule: 18:45 07:15 (12-hour nights)
  • 36 hours per week only
  • No on-call requirement
  • Float requirement: Peds/PICU/nursery (infants up to and including 12 months)
  • Weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period
  • Self-scheduling per unit needs
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Scrubs: Navy blue or white

Important Notes

  • RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is NOT allowed and is NOT allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
  • RTO maximum: 7 days for AYA Auto Offer.
  • Unit will accept contracts from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027 (hard stop).
  • Unit will accept first-time travelers.
  • Local candidates are accepted.
  • 24 hours of unit orientation provided.
