• Position Type: Contract (Travel Nursing)
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $45.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour nights (4x12); 18:45 7:15. Block scheduling option available (F/S/S or S/S/M schedule). 36 or 48 hours per week can be offered.
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a fast-paced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry travel nursing position at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. The unit cares for orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients, with an average daily census of 37 across 39 beds. Nurses on this unit must be proficient in pain management for ortho and spine patients. The unit is willing to offer block scheduling (F/S/S or S/S/M schedule) for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to an orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patient population.
• Manage pain effectively for ortho and spine patients requiring attentive, ongoing pain management oversight.
• Maintain a patient ratio of 5 6:1; ratio may flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases only.
• Float as required to any other med-surg unit within the facility to meet staffing needs based on census.
• Work every other weekend as required; if an RN calls out on a weekend, they will be required to make up that time on a weekend.
• Adhere to all scheduling, RTO, and attendance policies as outlined in contract terms.
• Care for COVID patients on unit as needed (COVID patients are no longer cohorted to a specific COVID unit; all COVID patients, unless they end up in the ICU, are cared for on all units wherever they are when confirmed).

Required Skills

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience ORTHO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
• IV start proficiency
• Telemetry monitoring
• EPIC EMR experience (required for first-time travelers)
• Ability to manage fast-paced unit demands with strong pain management oversight for ortho and spine patients

Preferred Skills

• ACLS certification
• Charge Nurse experience
• Level I Trauma experience

Education Requirements

• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) Required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification Required
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Orthopedic nursing experience is mandatory
• First-time travelers accepted with EPIC experience
• Local candidates accepted

• 7 days maximum RTO for AYA Auto Offer
• No holiday RTO approved
• Night shift: 12-hour nights, 18:45 7:15
• 36 or 48 hours per week available

Important Notes

• RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is NOT allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
• No holiday RTO will be approved.
• 7 days maximum RTO applies under AYA Auto Offer terms.
• COVID patients are no longer cohorted; all COVID patients (unless admitted to ICU) are cared for on the unit where they are confirmed.
