Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract (Travel Nursing)
  • Contract Duration: 5 months
  • Pay Rate: $55.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 18:45 07:15 (4x12 Hours) will accept 36 or 48 hour contracts; Every other weekend required

Job Summary

This is a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry travel nursing position at a hospital facility in Wilmington, NC. The unit operates at a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on a night shift schedule (18:45 07:15, 4x12 hours). The unit accepts first-time travelers as well as local candidates. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients with diagnoses including but not limited to: diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, various surgical recovery cases, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; perform remote telemetry monitoring
  • Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as appropriate
  • Manage and care for patients with bowel obstructions, colostomy/ileostomy, feeding tubes, and renal failure including pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Administer blood products; perform central line blood draws, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and initiation/maintenance of IVs
  • Administer and manage Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
  • Manage chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac); manage BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Provide non-invasive airway management including nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, and oxygen tanks
  • Maintain Isolation Precautions/PPE and perform wound care/wound vac management
  • Float to main campus (NHRMC, approximately 32 minutes away) as required
  • Self-schedule within unit scheduling policies (RTO: 7 days MAX per contract; must be able to work holidays; no block schedules unless a weekend block)
  • Utilize Pyxis for medication management
  • Complete 24-hour unit orientation

Education Requirements

  • Active RN License required
  • BLS certification required

Important Notes

  • Must pass EKG Testing prior to start this is a hard requirement for this specialty
  • Hard stops: 2 years of experience required; 7 days MAX RTO per contract; must be able to work holidays; no block schedules unless a weekend block
  • Interview availability for the next 72 hours must be provided at time of submission; the manager will not extend an offer without first speaking to the candidate
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required
