Job Summary

This is a Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) RN travel contract position at a facility in Rochester, NY. RNs are required to have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as placing IVs, as this is a required skill for any RN at this facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with day/evening patient ratios of 5:1 (stretch 6 7) and night ratios of 6 7:1 (stretch 8 10 if staff calls in)
• Work alongside PCTs on all units who perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement as mandatory competencies
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate
• Perform Peripheral Line Care/Management
• Manage patients requiring Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tanks, and Non-invasive airway management
• Maintain Isolation Precautions
• Operate and monitor special equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, Ventilators, trach, and chest tubes
• Care for patients with diagnoses including acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, and sepsis
• Float within scope to meet facility needs/float between like units as required (will not practice outside of scope)

Education Requirements

• Active RN License required (NY NY is not a Compact state; NY state license is non-negotiable)
• BLS certification required
• Pending license not accepted

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• No on-call required
• Float within scope between like units required; will not practice outside of scope
• Block schedule: Facility will try to accommodate but not guaranteed
• No local candidates 75-mile radius restriction applies
• RTO Restrictions: No more than 1 week of RTO allowed in a contract
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Charting system: Epic

• Pending RN license not accepted active NY RN license required at time of submission
• RTO Restrictions: No more than 1 week of RTO will be approved in a single contract period
