Registered Nurse/MS/Tele Float

Location: Wilmington, NC

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract (Travel/Contract)
  • Contract Duration: 3 months (hard stop)
  • Pay Rate: $55.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45 07:15); 36 or 48 hours per week

Job Summary

This is an ED Holding Support position located in the Float Pool. The ED Holding unit (EDIP) is an inpatient holding area located within the Emergency Department where patients are waiting for an inpatient bed in the hospital. Patients may present with any adult medical/surgical diagnosis, and travelers may have PCU level patients. Travelers are expected to take MS/Tele cases as well as float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for adult patients with any medical/surgical diagnosis who are waiting for an inpatient bed in the Emergency Department holding area
  • Manage MS/Tele cases and float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed
  • Manage PCU level patients as assigned
  • Operate and monitor cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other standard monitoring systems
  • Utilize unit systems including Pyxis (medication), Epic (documentation), and SBAR (communication)
  • Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters as part of assigned Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team
  • Work every other weekend as required
  • Adhere to manager-assigned scheduling
  • Participate in a 12-hour unit orientation upon start

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • This is an ED Holding (EDIP) unit a mixed, high-acuity environment within the Emergency Department
  • Patient population: any adult medical/surgical diagnosis, including PCU level patients
  • Target nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours (18:45 07:15); 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • RTO (Return to Origin) maximum: 7 days
  • Float requirement: travelers will float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed
  • Contract staff will be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty incident, or disaster
  • Consolidation to a centralized office mid-contract may occur; contract staff may be pre-assigned to units as needed
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Scrubs: Navy
  • Unit uses standard equipment, cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems

Important Notes

  • RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
  • Contracts accepted from 13 weeks up to February 27, 2027 (hard stop).
  • Must pass EKG Testing prior to start this is a mandatory pre-start requirement for this specialty.
  • All candidates will be interviewed due to high acuity and high turnover rate on this unit.
  • Local candidates accepted.
