  • Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 3x12 Hours, 18:45 07:15

Job Summary

This is a Medical-Surgical travel/contract Registered Nurse position on a Neuro Surgical unit at a healthcare facility in Wilmington, NC. The unit cares for patients with Neuro Surgical Procedures and Neuro diagnoses. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to a Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, and contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients with Neuro Surgical Procedures and Neuro diagnoses on a Medical-Surgical unit.
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:5 6.
  • Work 36 or 48 hours per week (if 48 hours, no overtime billed until after 48 hours); DAYS scheduling.
  • Float to other units as required per float requirement.
  • Fulfill weekend shift requirements of 12 16 weekend shifts per contract; unit is flexible and would like to discuss scheduling with the traveler.
  • Utilize unit systems including Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC for medication management, documentation, and communication.
  • Complete 2 orientation shifts on the unit after hospital-based orientation.
  • Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments as directed.
  • Report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
  • Ability to work night shifts (3x12, 18:45 07:15).
  • Proficiency with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication methodology.
  • Ability to float to other units as required.
  • Willingness and availability to fulfill weekend shift requirements (12 16 shifts per contract).
  • Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only).

Preferred Skills

  • Neuro experience preferred.
  • NIH certification preferred.

Education Requirements

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
  • Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.
  • NIH certification preferred.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
  • Travel nursing experience: not required; first-time travelers accepted.
  • Local candidates accepted.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45 07:15).
  • 36 or 48 hours per week; if 48 hours, no overtime billed until after 48 hours.
  • Patient ratios: 1:5 6.
  • Float requirement: Yes floating to other units is required.
  • Weekend requirement: 12 16 weekend shifts per contract; unit is flexible and would like to discuss with the traveler.

  • Scheduling type: Manager schedules.
  • Scrub color: Navy.

  • Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur; contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

  • RTO (Return to Origin) policy: 7 days MAX; no RTO after booking.
  • Unit orientation consists of 2 orientation shifts on the unit after hospital-based orientation.
  • Blocked scheduling may be accommodated please inquire during the submission process.
