    Description

    Med Surg RN for Med Surg Oncology clinic ***This unit cares for and monitors patients who have received chemotherapy. The team is looking for travelers who are already chemotherapy certified or are willing to obtain the required certification. - All travelers and staff will receive onsite training to ensure they feel comfortable, confident, and prepared to care for the patient population. - The required certification is the ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration. - The certification consists of an approximately 10-hour, self-paced course followed by an open-book test. The onsite team is very supportive and available to help travelers navigate the certification and testing process. As part of the Cancer Institute, the unit also provides free access to a variety of oncology and chemotherapy education courses, many of which can be applied toward CEUs. This is a great opportunity for travelers who are already chemo certified, as well as those who are interested in expanding their oncology experience and gaining additional skills and education!*** **RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit, could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR.** REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: 2 years of experience required 1st time traveler accepted Locals accepted at a local rate BLS required ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration preferred *Travelers must be willing to obtain this certification prior to or during their assignment. Charge nurse experience, OCN JOB DETAILS: This unit cares for and monitors patients who have received chemotherapy. The team is looking for travelers who are already chemotherapy certified or are willing to obtain the required certification. Target Ratios: 1:6 Shift: 3x12 nights 13-26 week contracts accepted Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift Every other weekend required Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding, such as inpatient holding in the ED, or any alternate medical patient care location. ** Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid contract may occur and the contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed PATIENT DIAGNOSES: General medical-surgical diagnosis primary patient population. Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy -IV, PO, or injection. AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, OD, Malignant Neoplasms, ARF, Encephalopathy, FTT, Diabetic foot ulcers, Heparin drips, SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: Daily Census 42. During times of increased census, typical ratios may be higher.
