• Contract Duration: 6 months
• Pay Rate: $48.00 $50.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Nights 4 12 Hours, 18:45 07:15; 36 or 48 hours per week accepted

Job Summary

This is a Neuro Unit Medical Surgical travel nursing position at a healthcare facility in Wilmington, NC. The unit focuses on general medicine with an emphasis on neurological patient diagnoses. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, and the contract staff may be pre-assigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care using a teamwork approach with a focus on patient safety
• Provide care for patients with general medicine diagnoses, with a primary focus on neuro
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:6
• Float to other units as required travelers float first
• Complete 5 6 weekend shifts per contract period (equates to every other weekend)
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis (medication), EPIC (documentation), and SBAR (communication)
• Work within a Manager-scheduled framework
• Be available and willing to learn the charge nurse role as needed

Required Skills

• Teamwork approach to patient care
• Focus on patient safety
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty

Preferred Skills

• NIH (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) experience preferred
• Neuro experience preferred
• Experience with or willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred

Education Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• This is a Neuro Unit patient diagnoses include general medicine with a focus on neuro
• Night shift: 18:45 07:15 (4 12-hour shifts)
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Float requirement: yes travelers float first
• Weekend requirement: 5 6 weekend shifts per contract (every other weekend)
• Scrubs: Not provided Navy Blue required
• Unit orientation: 24 hours
• Scheduling type: Manager schedules
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Important Notes

• RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• RTO: 7 days maximum for AYA Auto Offer
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start this is required for this specialty
• Locals accepted; local rate difference may apply
• COVID-19: Not required
• Flu vaccination: Required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Mid-contract consolidation to the Centralized Office may occur; contract staff may be pre-assigned to units as needed
