Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Role Summary

Elevate your nursing career in a high-performing, 10-bed Medical-Surgical unit equipped with full telemetry capabilities. This role is designed for a versatile and experienced clinician who thrives in an acute care setting. As an MS3 RN, you will manage a diverse patient population, including adult and pediatric cases, while enjoying the support of a dedicated team of Telemetry Technicians, PCTs, and Health Unit Coordinators. With a guaranteed 36-hour week and a focus on clinical excellence, this position offers the perfect environment to apply your skills in telemetry and acute care management.

Key Duties:

  • Acute Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to a 10-bed unit with full telemetry monitoring on all beds.

  • Telemetry Monitoring: Utilize telemetry data to assess patient cardiac status and respond proactively to changes in clinical condition.

  • Diverse Patient Population: Deliver age-appropriate care for adult patients (1:5–1:6 ratio) and pediatric patients (1:4 ratio), adjusting care based on patient acuity.

  • Cross-Unit Collaboration: Support the broader hospital team by floating to other Medical-Surgical units or the ICU to manage MS-level overflow patients.

  • Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records within the electronic medical record system to ensure continuity of care.

  • Multidisciplinary Support: Work alongside Charge Nurses and support staff to ensure efficient patient throughput and a high standard of patient safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in an acute care Medical-Surgical setting.

  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse License.

  • Certifications: * BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association) required.

    • NIHSS Certification required.

  • Clinical Skills: Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and acute care assessments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Specialized Certification:PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is highly preferred.

  • Adaptability: Proven ability to float and adapt to different units while maintaining high standards of care.

  • Acuity Management: Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to manage varying levels of patient acuity.
