PIMC is one of the largest IHS facilities in the country, serving over 150,000 American Indian and Alaska Native patients from more than 45 tribes across the greater Phoenix metropolitan area and surrounding communities. Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) – RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)As a Med/Surg RN at PIMC, you will provide direct nursing care on the Medical-Surgical unit, including:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments per physician orders.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, conditions, and responses to treatment.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and discharge plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Ensure compliance with IHS policies, infection control, and patient safety standards.
- Respond to emergencies and rapid response situations on the unit.
- Manage wound care, drains, ostomies, and other post-surgical needs.
- Serve a diverse Native American patient population from more than 45 tribes.
Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) – REQUIREMENTS- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state (IHS facility – Arizona license not required).
- Minimum two (2) years of Med/Surg nursing experience.
- ASN or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Current BLS certification (required); ACLS certification (preferred).
- Two (2) professional references from current or previous supervisors.
- Certificate of Immunization.
Schedule- Full-time, Contract
- 12-hour shifts
- Rotating days and nights
- Overtime and weekends as needed
